In case you were unaware (I assume pretty much everyone is unless you know me personally) tomorrow is my 24th birthday. To celebrate this...momentous... occasion, I will provide 24 facts you may not know about me.
1. I'm getting married in a month and a half. She's the most awesome, amazing, wonderful woman I've ever met. Hence, the marrying.
2. In my spare time I make movies with my friends. Like legit, fully planned and scripted, guy holding a boom mic type movies.
3. I prefer to be behind the camera. However, often, due to unforeseen issues caused by lack of free actors, I often make cameos in these movies. I've played a mad doctor, a security guard, a dead body on a gurney, a stunt double for a killer, a zombie, an on-screen cameraman, a cornhole player, and a guy who kills Michael Bay, to name a few.
4. At the age of 19 I directed a live television show called "The Point", which had all talent and crew positions being done by high-school and college-aged students. It lasted a whole year.
5. I ran the 110 and 300 hurdles in high school....I didn't do it that well. But I did it.
6. Every year since I found out about them at about age 12, I've had an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen for my birthday. My family usually tries to get strange or funny pictures put on them. They include, Bart Simpson, a picture that looks like a dam with the heading "Here's your dam cake", Spongebob Squarepants, and Barney the Dinosaur are the ones I remember off-hand.
7. I am left-handed. I find that we are most under-valued minority in the world.
8. I've never had a job that required me to use a real cash register. I worked in an ice cream stand one summer, but it was just metal box.
9. Besides the two years I lived at college (which was only a 30 minute drive from my house) I've never lived anywhere but the house I live in now. That will change soon.
10. For some reason, despite making movies and loving to watch movies, I have a terrible time seeing and actor and remember their name or what other movies I've seen them in.
11. I've never been in an airplane before. That will also soon change.
12. There is videographic evidence of me becoming upset that my 90 year-old great aunt only gave me money for Christmas when I was four.
13. I'd play with Legos all day if anyone let me.
14. I like to read Stephen King books. There's something about them that is morbidly fascinating to me.
15. I originally attended college for graphic design. After a semester of looking around the room, I realized I wouldn't have beat those people out for a job, let alone the rest of the world.
16. I won the first Twitter contest Brandon Phillips ever held. He called me on the phone that night. His favorite cartoon as a kid was He-Man. I got a personalized, autographed bat.
17. When September 11th happened, I was in 8th grade. Our teachers didn't tell us anything. When I went to the car after school, my mom said America had been attacked. I thought she was joking.
18. I like to tell funny stories sometimes about how I got my nickname. But the real story is that a kid in 3rd grade saw some of the letters of the word 'wedge' in my last name, and that's what everyone called me. It's stuck ever since.
19. I once rode down a hill in a big paper mache carrot, as part of an art project.
20. Hardly ever has it been a clear day without any sort of precipitation on my birthday. And if the reports hold true, it's gonna rain tomorrow.
21. I really enjoy bowling, even if I only have about a 120 average. I find it kind of relaxing and therapeutic.
22. The first CD I ever bought myself was blink 182's "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket"
23. I'm proud to share a birthday with Dr. Seuss, Jon Bon Jovi, Reggie Bush and Ron Gant. Not so much on Ben Roethlisberger.
24. Once, in fifth-grade little league, a coach played me at third base, despite the fact that I was left-handed. I guess he didn't realize it. The one inning I was out there, a kid hit a sharp one-hopper up the line that I reflexively grabbed. Instead of turning toward second and throwing, I basically turned in a full circle to get momentum going to throw the runner out at first. I never played a single out of infield again.
That's it from me for today.
Also, don't forget about Zach Wells' charity basketball game tonight at NKU's Regent's Hall at 7:30pm.
